Where in the world can you simply drop your lines right off the coastline and hook into an offshore catch of a lifetime; head the boat in just a little ways to change it up to some inshore fishing; and then, in the same town, just drop your boat in along the St, John’s or Indian River Lagoon for some fresh water, river fishing? Right here in the Daytona Beach area, that’s where! I would never fish-shame anyone, but if you can’t catch fish in Central Florida, well…
This area is a fisherman’s fantasy. Surrounded by the ocean, gorgeous waterways and scenic rivers, Daytona Beach and the coastal communities around it are simply teeming with aquatic life. If you’re fishing here, you really should catch something. Just sayin’.
River fishermen have their choice of some of the most prolific rivers in the country. Just to name two of the largest and most diverse, there is the St, John’s River, which is the largest river running through the state of Florida; and then you don’t want to miss the Indian River Lagoon, which is made up of three bountiful bodies of water. In any of the fertile rivers of Central Florida, you can find trout, perch, crappie, bluegill, drum, carp, shad, gar and more. Additionally, aside from fruitful bass fishing, you may very well come in contact with the occasional trophy bass.
The Daytona Beach area is also an oasis for inshore and offshore saltwater fishing, yielding all types of sharks, swordfish, dolphin fish, marlin, tuna, snapper, sailfish, triggerfish, pompano, tarpon, cobia, king mackerel, grouper, flounder, sea trout and that list goes on and on!
